Cheers guys, yeah, X-Wing is basically Wings of Glory. Herkybird has also done solo cards for that game as well.

It’s a great game and the solo rules are really good. I am going to be playing this again over the next few weeks for sure!

To be honest, before I wrote the title of this thread, I also thought it was RomanUS. I think it’s the way it’s pronounced in the film!

Cheers chaps, the shields are Decals, so I can’t take credit.

Also, I don’t think I am the one who needs to write it out 100 times…. ๐Ÿ™‚

Cheers chaps, whilst the rest of the UK was panic buying bog roll and sanitiser, I was panic buying nuln oil and earthshade…

I’m not so interested in the period as I’m an archaeologist and it’s a bit too much like the day job…

Thanks guys! I am glad you liked them! Tony, they were painted with my normal Vallejo/Citadel/Humbrol acrylics, no contrast paints here. I simply block painted them then washed them in Agrax Earthshade for cloth and skin, and Nuln Oil for the metal. Then just block painted highlights where they were needed. Not a great deal to it, really. As for construction, I grew up with Airfix kits and have always loved model building, so these are a cinch, tbh. The sculpts are very nice and the parts go together easily. But I also draw the line at drilling hands on metal figures for spears.

TBH, I posted that without thinking about it and you’re right there is a lot to be said for more complexity in a solo game. As long as you are able to keep track of everything that is happening it can be rewarding.

Andrew, then Fantasy Flight Games are your answer. The living card games that they produce (Arkham Horror and Lord of the Rings) basically play off the cards themselves. All the information is written on them and once you know the core rules, they flow very well. Have a look at my how to play video near the bottom of the post for an example of Arkham Horror.

No problem, Nathaniel, I am glad you enjoyed the post.

That’s fair enough, I was talking from a personal perspective really. I have terrible memory, so I forget things easily! That’s a good point about it going as slow as you want and being able to check rules without other players sat around waiting for you.

Thanks, I am glad you liked it. Yes, I completely agree, the smaller the game, the easier it is to solo. Even just remembering what each unit can do is difficult when you reach a certain level. Skirmishes would work better with having hidden opponents as I mentioned in the post.

There’s no mention of it in the box description or anywhere, but I’d be very surprised if the sculptor didn’t base it on Hershey.

I get you, and I agree that I wasn’t keen on the new one’s look for MC-1. I’d actually forgotten how the other one looked, and I agree there as well. From a set design POV it looks a lot better. I thought the original one felt like it was shot on a set though, and I really didn’t like the uniform look. I know the new one doesn’t have the correct uniform either, but it felt grittier and more like Dredd should be in tone.

He’s always been my favourite character in any comic and I loved the most recent Dredd film. The first one was nonsense, but that’s Hollywood for you.

Thanks, the resin is quite stiff, but not too brittle and I was able to bend them back into shape, the few bits that had been misshapen in transit. I’ve not seen the Mantics stuff and I didn’t use hot water, but I can’t foresee there being an issue with using it.

Cheers buddy! Yeah, 2000ad has a very British approach to ScFi. I wonder if that was partly why it has never done so well in the US?

There were lots of in-jokes within the pages of 2000ad, they usually went straight over the heads of the young readership. It’s why it’s worth going back as an adult and re-reading them.

Thank you! That’s cool, I have absolutely no idea how people scratch build vehicles, especially ones that are going to be turned into moulds. I have tried to find out online any techniques, but I have always drawn a blank. It’s a magical art to me…
