Thank you! That’s cool, I have absolutely no idea how people scratch build vehicles, especially ones that are going to be turned into moulds. I have tried to find out online any techniques, but I have always drawn a blank. It’s a magical art to me…

Gone Fishing: Please do, I love everything about it, let me know what you thought though when you finish it.

Rhoderic, nah, not at all buddy. I got what you meant.

Ah hah, now I get you. I was definitely not going for a metallic look with this. I do like the anarchic style of 2000AD which is probably why it appealed to me as a teenager far more than the clean lines of Marvel or even DC comics.

Gone Fishing: I am saddened to hear that you’re not enjoying America, it is far and away my favourite JD story of all time. I remember being blown away by it when it was originally published in the Megazine. I also recently bought the collection and still really enjoyed it. I hope it picks up for you. Hojack away, always happy to talk about The Chin!

    Thanks Rhoderic!

NMM? I’m not sure what that means!

Every artist interprets the Dredd uniform as they like. I did these in yellow as it mirrors the comic more than gold would, IMO. I guess that is what happens when you grow up reading 2000AD on the old newsprint paper with very few printer colours… I wanted the figure to be *slightly* comic-book style and I think the yellow works better in that respect. But as you say, neither are wrong, really.

Ha ha, we are speaking Betelgeusian, the same as Tharg the Mighty the editor of 2000AD. He said something along the lines of excellent, and I thanked him. I’m glad this has inspired you! I have a lot of the older Warlord Games Dredd figures as well, I really like the new range though.

Cheers Thomaston, yes, those plants are VERY green. I’ve seen a lot of people using them as is, but I preferred a subtler look to mine. I hope it works out for you.

Cheers buddy! I’m glad you liked the blog and the video!

Two answers: I will just use the smaller pieces as blocking terrain pieces, to funnel movement around the board and create cover really. There’s no reason why they can’t also be passable, but I will define them depending on the scenario.

No the infantry can’t occupy the larger pieces. Some parts of the jungle are impenetrable and this is what these are representing, again to block areas and create cover on the board. I was going to make some pieces with removable trees, so that you can fit figures in amongst the foliage, but that is something for future.

I haven’t seen the old fatties so I cant draw a comparison,  but the figures are more like 32mm than 28mm. They work ok with my other JD stuff, but they are on higher bases.

Thanks Tony! Yes, the PP casualties are full of character. I use them in my First World War games as well for morale markets. The idea of mixing them in with bigger units is a great plan!

Thank you, that is very enthusiastic praise! And much appreciated! I’m glad people are enjoying the video, I may do the same with my Anglo-Allied army as well. The good thing about the Blucher bases is that they can be little vignettes as it doesn’t really matter how the figures are formed up on them, so there’s a lot of scope for doing something interesting.

Yep, Xmas will be a relaxed one and as soon as I have raised the war chest, I’ll crack on with the Prussians…

Thank you! There’s a couple of stages really. After using pollyfilla to build up the base, first I use sand glued down with PVA, which I then paint with Vallejo’s Intermediate green, wait til it’s dry and then inkwash with a thinned version of Vallejo’s Flat Earth and drybrush with Decorart’s Sunshine Yellow. Then I use Wooland Scenics’ summer mix static grass glued down with PVA in random blobs. Finally, I add some small grass tufts that I picked up on Ebay. It’s as simple as that really.

Thanks, criticism is fine, as long as it’s constructive… I made a decision not to have voice overs on these videos, largely cos I’m usually chatting to my mates and the conversation is largely inane banter and in jokes. As you said, if you don’t like the music, just turn it down. At the end of the day whatever I do is going to displease someone, so I make the videos as I’d like them to be and if others like it, then great.

I take the point about panning quickly, but that is usually because most of the games are in full flow and I don’t like interrupting someone’s fun while I linger over the table with the camera. Everyone seems happy to have me film, but I don’t want to take the mick. I guess a solution would be to add in some still photos as well, which would have more detail shown. I’ll think about it for the next one.

Isn’t it just? I saw it at Fiasco and was blown away how good it looks. it’s a real showcase for 6mm.

The Mummy was a fun game with a lot of nods to classic films and characters. Really good fun

Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed the video, it was the first of the Malaya campaign ones I did, and you can tell by the state of the maps I drew!
