OldBen1Participant
Cool alien race.
OldBen1ParticipantIt certainly “looks” like I paint miniatures with my feet!
OldBen1ParticipantI use photo matting, takes paint well with no warping or priming.
Mdf always warps on me even if I treat both sides. It’s probably the ridiculous climate I live in (-26 today).
OldBen1ParticipantWow, wonderful painting and amazing jungle terrain.
OldBen1ParticipantThat’s a lot of work. Why not stick to 10mm?. Lots of scenery and miniatures out there to bolster your games.
OldBen1ParticipantThis means war! Gather the supplies, rally the troops, time to crush some skulls!
Oh sorry.
What about a quick name change to The Legend of Crom’s Anvil?
I thought Canadians were supposed to be peaceful?
OldBen1ParticipantWow, thanks for the WIP! 10mm is as small is I can see. I think the smallish buildings are fine, especially in clusters. The cobblestones are cool too, I might have to try those out. I still think your trees are the best. Did you blend some aquarium plants in the top?
I don’t have much experience with fimo, but I might try it out. The altars are really cool, simple but effective. I really like the broken columns.
OldBen1ParticipantI love the terrain. Can we see more pictures of the altar and columns?
OldBen1ParticipantBest movie ever! I look forward to seeing more Deadites!
OldBen1ParticipantSounds great!
any clues?
wait, is it : Legends of Croms Anvil!
OldBen1ParticipantOr should the drunk be in every game!
amazing detail for such small models!
OldBen1ParticipantIt’s often style over gamability. Having a grid underneath makes playing so much easier, but looks unrealistic. Black rimmed bases frame the miniature, but often stand out on a lighter board. What can you do, it’s make believe anyways?
OldBen1ParticipantGreat ideas, I imagine the final board will look great! I like what Makatishi did with the columns and the road. You could always mount the road on some very thin card like matting and remove it when you’re not using it.
My village will be more European I’m afraid to match my more LOTR set up. I’m a little jealous of all these Adobe villages!
OldBen1ParticipantExcellent idea. WHat kind of terrain piece?
OldBen1ParticipantWell that looks pretty sharp!
You could easily change the sand to snow for a more young Conan saga. Nice work.
OldBen1ParticipantI really like those trees, I’ll have to try that out. Dis you make your own doors and windows for the houses. They are ‘cute’ in a good way.
OldBen1ParticipantThat’s pretty much how it worked out for me. I love your terrain!
OldBen1Participantdo you have better pictures of your buildings and forests? I would like to steal(a hem) borrow some of your ideas.
OldBen1Participant6mm, you could fit everything in a matchbox!
wonderful sculpts, so tiny. I have some coppesltone halflings, they are tiny! Do you bust out the electron microscope while sculpting?
why are you switching to 6mm?
OldBen1ParticipantHey that’s pretty cool!
OldBen1Participantheh, flying monkeys would be cool. Blue ones with little red caps.
OldBen1ParticipantI don’t know Conan very well but you could stick with sandier characters like scorpions, mummies, skeletons, worms, djinns, monkeys, crocs, apes, harpies, giant snakes, giant statues with jewelled eyes, monstrous beetles, lions, elephants with spikes.
I’m more of a Tolkien guy so Spiders, goblins, trolls, wolves etc.
OldBen1ParticipantWhat about deluxe models with marketplace built in?
OldBen1ParticipantObviously a lot more variety in terms of miniatures on this thread vs. The fantasy. I really like all the bright colours.
OldBen1ParticipantOh man, these look really cool. There painted to an awesome standard as well.
OldBen1ParticipantI think basing them is a great idea, since I always base my structures anyways. It gives them stability plus like you said, you can add more skulls and bottles!
OldBen1ParticipantI just spent the last 15 minutes checking out this thread. So much to look at, lots of inspiration. I really like all the scatchbuilt structures. Great narrative as well!
OldBen1ParticipantI agree, I use frosted plastic. Painting individual windows is agonizing.
OldBen1ParticipantThat’s incredible! I wish I had the skill for all that work. Your vehicles are inspired.
OldBen1ParticipantThat’s a lot of cutting. Looks realistic.
OldBen1ParticipantThis is a good idea, but could simplify by having the side with more vitality points go first without a roll?
OldBen1ParticipantI like the chain mail arm. Thanks for the lengthy response. I’m hoping your fantasy stuff will be 10mm compatible. I think your trade stalls might look good in Mos Eisley.
OldBen1ParticipantI’m curious, who do you get to sculpt your minis? What the process like? Do you have to submit artwork?
OldBen1ParticipantYou should definitely make it compatible with your other marketplace stuff, which I think is great. you could even re-use some of baskets and crates. If you made ones with awnings you could even use the old stuff underneath.
Could you call it Crom’s Anvil and Miniature Emporium?
OldBen1ParticipantNow we’re talking! Could you add some sci fi bits as well? 🙂
OldBen1ParticipantOh we played robot each back in the day. Lots of charts and lots of dice. In though, I’m glad my GM was a Math major!
OldBen1ParticipantWow, you’ve captured the feel of the armour very well. I love the base too. Those highlights are slick.
OldBen1ParticipantAny more games? The guys over at LAF are going crazy for this game. I am always worried about new games (Frostgrave). SOmetimes the initial buzz is more than the actual ‘legs’ of the game.
OldBen1ParticipantI always use smaller buildings than I should, especially for 15mm games. Realistically I know they are too small but Skirmish battles need few buildings anyways. I figure if I can imagine a tiny piece of lead represents Boba Fett, then I can take some liberties with the buildings. I used to game in 28mm and even thought the buildings were monstrous, they would never really support all the rooms needed like hallways and bathrooms. I actually make separate interiors for my buildings now so this isn’t as much of a problem. I appreciate large buildings, but storing them-no thanks.
OldBen1ParticipantWow! Your flickr albums are extensive, too much to look at!
